Fisios Mundi is a non-governmental organization located in Barcelona (Spain) that aims to respond to the physiotherapy needs detected in people without resources to access treatment.
Origins
Fisios Mundi was born in 1997 from a disagreement between two physiotherapists (Joan Sala and Jordi Fabregat), on a trip to India realized the outstanding deficiencies suffered by people with disabilities, such as those affected by poliomyelitis, fluorosis, child, and adult cerebral palsy, hemiplegia, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and a large number of so-called "rare" diseases. The only rehabilitation service offered to these people was the application of prostheses and orthoses for minimal displacement at home. The lack of a correct and guided rehabilitative therapy, and the lack of existing knowledge in the personnel that elaborated the prostheses and orthoses were the triggers to start a physiotherapy training project in the rural areas of Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Over the years, we have collaborated with other NGOs and have created our own projects in different countries, including ours. (Spain)
